Mallow Crescent in Guilford, Surrey, a care home for adults was rated outstanding for being caring and responsive following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), 28 November 2019.
It achieved the score of good for the safe, effective and well-led categories.
Mallow Crescent is a supported living service supporting people with a learning disability or autistic spectrum disorder, older people, physical disabilities and younger adults. Mallow Crescent also has a residential care home on site.
The CQC report highlighted that staff were exceptionally kind, caring, and committed to the people they supported. They had developed very strong relationships with people and helped ensure they enjoyed a quality of life, whatever the level of need.
One staff member said, "The reward is quite big when you see people happy. You manage to fulfil their wishes and see happy families."
Avoiding social isolation is very important at Mallow Crescent A person who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) was supported to attend a local Pride event to celebrate the LGBT community. The service showed CC inspectors pictures of the person attending the event and participating by meeting other people who identified as LGBT.
