Mildenhall Lodge, Suffolk

Mildenhall Lodge in Suffolk, a nursing home for adults with physical disabilities and dementia was rated outstanding for being responsive and well-led, following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), 15 November 2017.

It achieved a score of good for the safe, effective and caring elements of the report.

The CQC report highlighted that residents at Mildenhall Lodge were receiving an exceptionally person centred service. The home focused on people, the things that are important to them and how they wished to receive their support.

Residents and their relatives told CQC inspectors they were tremendously happy with the care and support provided by staff and described it in outstanding terms. People also received care which was extremely flexible and responsive to their individual needs and preferences. Another relative said, "When my time comes to need care, I'll move in here too." Another relative told us, " My friend's mother had lived here and it was the only home I would have my relative move into."

At an award scheme held in Suffolk, the registered manager won an award in 2016 for motivational leadership. It was evident that this was reflective of the registered manager's work ethic and style of leadership.

It also demonstrated that the service and registered manager had a track record of providing excellent care.
