Magdalen Park Care Home is a residential care home providing personal care to adults, some living with dementia, across two units.
There was a truly holistic approach to assessing, planning and delivering care and support. Staff knew people exceptionally well and supported them to achieve outcomes which far exceeded health professionals' expectations. A relative said, "The staff seem to be very perceptive to the residents and their needs."
Staff supported one person to regain their speech, mobility and daily living skills; they described the positive impact this had on the person's ability to maintain important relationships and their quality of life.
The provider promoted a strong, visible person-centred culture. Throughout the home posters were displayed highlighting zero tolerance on discrimination One person said, "We're all the same here. No differences here. We're like a family."
The values of the service were centred around people's needs and choices and staff paid great attention to detail. One person described the service as their home and the staff and managers as their family.
