St Georges Care Home gets awarded outstanding in two key areas, by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Outstanding ratings were given in the caring and responsive aspects of the report and the safe, effective and well-led aspects were rated good.
The routine inspection took place on 16 & 17 October 2018, at the home in Taunton, Somerset.
Cherry Holt Care Home is a care home for older people.
The CQC identified that people were supported by staff who were very kind and compassionate, and residents thought staff often went over and above their job roles to ensure their comfort and well-being.
One person said, "The staff here are marvellous. They make the place." During the inspection CQC inspectors heard numerous examples of how staff had gone the extra mile to make sure people had positive experiences.
Throughout the inspection they observed kind and caring interactions and saw staff spent time socialising with people as well as helping them with physical care needs. One member of staff said, "I think of the people here as family and so that's how I treat people." One person showed they felt the same by saying, "Staff treat you like family."
The CQC report also highlighted that all areas of the home were fitted with wifi which enabled people to make skype calls to friends and relatives in private. People were helped to keep in contact with family members who lived abroad, and this had proved very beneficial for some people, helping them to chat and share memories with people they could no longer meet up with.
