Briar Hill House, in Rugeley, Staffordshire has been awarded outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
Briar Hill House is a residential care home that provides personal care to older people and people with physical disabilities.
The CQC awarded Briar Hill House outstanding in two out of five categories; caring and responsive and good for safe, effective and well-led following the inspection, 24 January 2019.
Inspectors highlighted that staff were always available to residents to offer comfort and meet their needs and to pre-empt discomfort. People were continually offered drinks, blankets, personal care, and support to engage in activities.
One resident said, "There is always someone coming in to offer a drink and check on me.”
Some residents at Briar Hill House were no longer able to communicate or share their wishes due to their health condition, so their families were included in planning their care. Staff were meticulous in recording their health situation to ensure that information was shared in accessible forms so that they received good joined up care. Photographs were taken regularly so that any deterioration could be monitored, and health observations were frequent.
